Proposal Form
Proposals should take the form of a video pitch no more than 7 minutes long. The video should be accompanied by a one paragraph summary that begins with the one sentence elevator pitch.  The video must be submitted by the final day of class, Dec. 10. The summary and links to your video should be posted on your blog. If there is an external reviewer, they should be emailed the summary and a link to the video as well before the final class date. Videos will be shown and commented on during the last day of class. In the video the following topics should be covered:

Summary:
The Fairy Circle is An interactive storytelling experience where the fairies of the enchanted forest will tell passersby short stories and tales of the forest and its inhabitants. The fairy circle takes place around an enchanted tree, and all those who sit and listen are welcome to take home an engraved stone that will stay with them.

The Big Idea:  What do you want guests to get out of your designed space.  This is the guiding concept and should be reasonably concrete in expression and effective in nature.  It is not enough to want guests to “feel good;” the overall goal should be more specific.

An interactive storytelling experience. Utilizing light projection and sound to create an environment. The lights and sound will be used as tools to personify inanimate objects to be characters that the narrator interacts with.

The Story: What’s your story. How does your story intersect the narrative of the Enchanted Forest?  There should be a story arc, no matter how simple or small, that unifies your proposal to the space.

The narrator is a fairy, and returned to the human world.
she wants to spread the magic of fairies in the human world. The fairy circle is the link between worlds where magic of the fairies can exist.  Inside the circle many fairy characters can exist.
The story would be about 3 to 5 minutes long for the convenience of the guests.

The Experience:  Explain how the guest will be immersed in the idea you have.  The event/attraction you create might be either virtual or actual, but it should be as immersive as possible.

Guests would be able to sit around the environment in an interactive storytelling experience. The actress would both interact with the audience by asking questions but would be telling a story alongside it.
The performance area for this project would be directly off the main path in the woods, allowing for easy accessibility for handicapped individuals.
The actress would interact with guests before the show by walking around the tree and inviting them to sit for her stories. After the show has begun, the guests would watch as the actress would make her way around the tree telling her stories. The lights projected on the tree would change as each story changes.

The Design:  Here are the details of construction, fabrication, engineering, programming, material culture, technology, lighting, performance, script ...whatever you need to create the experience for the guest.

The pop-up theme park would be set outdoors during the night.
Colorful projection lights would be placed in bushes and around trees.
String lights would be hang over tree branches. They would create a curtain around the entrance of the fairy circle.
Mushroom like lanterns would be placed on the grounds, leading the guests to the seat areas and the center of the fairy circle.
A plastic tree that could be assembled by portable individual parts would be brought to the set and placed near the center of the fairy circle.
A tree mask statue would be placed on the plastic tree as well.

More than one actress/actor would be needed so that they can take shifts.
The actor/actress would wear fairy costumes. Designers for the fairy costumes are recommended to draw inspiration from fairies in literature like Titania and etc.
.

Tiny LED's.
String lights hang over branches of trees.

The Takeaway:  The material souvenir, the immaterial memory and the aspiration. What should the guest take away from your design?

The material souvenir or takeaway from the Fairy Circle would be a small engraved stone and a paper pamphlet.
At the end of each performance, the actor or actress would hand out small stones, all of them having an engraving on it. The engraving would be simple but would be a small memento for the kids and guests to take home.
These stones would also match the stones that populate the pathways around the environment. Along with the small stones would be a simple pamphlet that would talk about the short stories being told as well as talk about the enchanted forest itself and the other events going on.
